Love your liver with this easy tea blend {RECIPE enclosed}

Liver Support

After the holiday season is a perfect time of year to consider how to support your elimination system, including your liver. Herbs like dandelion, burdock, and milk thistle are some of my go-to liver tonics.

Whether you participating in "Dry January" or simply setting the intention of taking some steps towards better health in 2025, paying attention to the health of your liver is key to supporting healthy digestion and elimination.

One of my favorite herbal tea blends is a combination of dandelion root, nettle leaf, and astragalus root. This is a gentle blend that isn't too overpowering, and doesn't usually cause a "healing crisis" where some symptoms get worse before they get better.

Many of my clients report that it tastes good (not too bitter) and is easy to blend due to the equal parts of just three commonly available herbs.

Be sure to choose roots of the dandelion plant for this tea, rather than the leaves since the roots have a stronger affinity for the liver, while the leaves function more as a diuretic supporting the kidneys. Stinging nettle is a calcium rich nutritive herb that forms a nice base for this formula. Astragalus root is an immune modulating herb that is rich in polysaccharides. Energetically, it helps warm up the formula. It has a sweet, earthy taste, which helps balance the bitterness of the dandelion root. Astragalus also aids in the healthy function of the liver.
